    Try gaim, here is the link to download: http://gaim.sourceforge.net/
    It supports many protocols: AIM/ICQ, Gadu2, Jabber, MSN, Groupwise, IRC, Yahoo, Zephyr, QQ, SILC, SIMPLE

    By the way, what distro are you using?

    Messengers are pre-installed in most of distros. Have you tried Pidgin ( Gnome ) or Kopete ( KDE ) ?
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
