    lgmrd from inittab keeps repawning

At the outset , I don't know if this is the correct forum to post this in. I apologize if it is not and I hope that somebody could guide me to the proper forum to post this in.

I am trying to run the Flexlm license manager (lgmrd) on RH ES 4 from /etc/inittab and I keep getting the message that the process is respawning too fast and will be disabled for 5 minutes. The process however seems to be up and running and I am able to communicate to it as well.

If I do a ps command then I can see the process lgmrd listed with a PID that does not change. I can see a tcp port 27000 that lgmrd uses , via netsat as well.

The lgmrd logs say that it " Failed to open the TCP port number in the license". I think that thats the latest log overwritten each time the inittab attempts to restart it.

It seems that even after the lgmrd starts up , the inittab attempts to restart it and finds the port occupied since the first instance of the program is actually up and running.

I have no idea why inittab would keep trying to start a program that is up.
Any suggestions would be most helpful.

I am attaching the inittab (added a .txt for upload) file for reference.

    Thank you,
    Devangana
