How do i add applications to the gnome menu if i install them and they dont show up there?

Usually, applications that install to Gnome drop an app_name.desktop file into the /usr/share/applications directory. You can check there to see if the .desktop entry for your app is present. If it's not, you can create one by looking at another desktop entry to see how it's done. Note that you need root or sudo permissions to edit or create that file.
You can also install alacarte to have more control over entries in the Gnome menu.oz
