    Windows games on Linux

I'll be honest and say that the primary reason that I haven't switched to linux is that two of my games have been for Windows. Now that Eve-Online supports linux I've about run out of excuses. So here is my question.

I know this is a bias question on this forums but do games run better or worse on linux using 'wine' or the now Cedega? Does anybody have an article with benchmarks?

I'll keep looking, and thanks for the feedback.

I've seen it reported both ways, so you'll probably need to determine for yourself which way works best for you.

I've not found an article with hard, fast numbers comparing WINE with a native MS Windows install, but in my personal experience a game that was written for MS Windows always plays better (and more stable) on the system for which it was designed.

However as ozar mentions, it's pretty much a personal thing. Some folks swear this or that program works better in WINE, and on their systems it might.

Maybe not the benchmark you were looking for, but you could also check the Wine Database for a little follow-up opinion on what may run for you.

Other than that, ozar & techieMoe are spot on. Try and see!

The wine database does have a lot of information about varius Windows apps. I recommend you look there before trying to install anything.

From my own personal expirience I've had a few programs that XP won't run probably due to being old that wine runs fine. As for wine vs windows I find windows to be faster on apps... but really that's expected.
