Thumbs up Which Distro for this system

Ok I am very tired, at any moment I will have keyboard face. However, since I found this forum I can't help but to go ahead and post a quick question to get me pointed in the right direction.

I buy and sell computers and have sold several running Ubuntu 6 - 7 though most are Windows based. My problem is that I have limited experience with Linux/Unix beyond basic samba and package management. Also I want note that I have more experience in Debian. I have used Red Hat, Fedora, and Ubuntu.

I have a system I pulled together that I would like to play several games under Linux out-of-the-box. I have very little hands-on with WINE and have used WINE-Doors more than anything.

Below is the specs for the system, if none of what I just said made sense just tell me which distro would be best.

    MOBO : NVIDIA MCP61S Chipset
CPU : AMD Athlon X2 4050e (Of course this will be heavily OCd)
    RAM : (2 x 512MB DDR2 Total of 1GB)
    VGA : HIS Radeon 2600 PRO 512MB GDDR2 PCIx16

    I would like to have

World of Warcraft ( I know there isn't a native client)
Eve-Online (There is a native client but premium graphics is not supported)
    Some multiplayer demos
Some older games I have laying around that would play very well under WINE

Let me know which distro and I will post under the dedicated forum for that distro.

I go sleepy now.................asdfasdgasdg[342=-[a[c, jaksdf asf

    Welcome to the forums!

I think pretty much any distro should work fine with those specs. It's probably best to try a few different distros and then decide for yourself which one best suits your own tastes and computer hardware.

Otherwise, I doubt there is anyone here that could say in all certainty that any particular distro would be the best for you and your machine. Since you have experience with Debian and Ubuntu, I'd recommend trying those two first.

Do let us know how it works out for you.

I knew I would leave something out being as tired as I was.

What I meant was I am going to sell this PC, so I wanted to use a distro that would be easiest to get the games running and easy for the end consumer.

I have used Ubuntu for some of my builds because it works great with almost all ICs and is a friendly environment for the user. However, since this machine is going to be using a little more horse power I just want to make sure I got it covered.

Remember, I am only asking which Distro to use. I have another post ready for the appropriate place in the forum.

Thanks for all your help. I am so glad to find a forum that covers all of Linux/Unix.

Ubuntu is the easiest from my experience (I have gotten quite a few non computer people on it with no problem). In terms of games, any linux distro is going to take some tweaking to get most windows games to work (some won't work no matter how hard you try).

My roomate uses opensuse Gnome version and loves it (says it's easier than ubuntu).

I second this. Good luck in your search.
