Welcome to the forums!
If you want to run Linux but also want to play Windows-based games, you'd probably be best off to simply setup your machine to dual-boot between Windows, and Linux. Otherwise, you could try running your Windows software under WINE, but the results are frequently unsatisfactory to many users.oz

but you also have games designed for linux platform. Luckily for me and unluckily for some others, they are all FPS.
As for wine, try this:
Instead of spending 200$ to 300$ on windows, use it to get a better hardware set with your system. And see the performance of games under Wine. You will definitely find a remarkable improvement over the quality offered by the same system with weaker hardware and windows.A man learns from his experience. I don't see anything about dual-booting that would keep anyone from playing Linux games under Linux, but then maybe I'm misunderstanding what you are saying.
As for Windows games performing better or worse under WINE than in Windows, I've seen that reported both ways many times right here on the forums.oz

I love my FPS games and online. Becuase of this I duel boot linux with Xp.
With games that need Punkbuster you have to run them in windows if you want to play online. Becuase of the nature of punkbuster i.e memory scanning, it simply doesn't work in linux even with wine, crossover etc.
I beleive that C&C should be fne.
I tried bioshock with wine and it was a little hit and miss with loading and the vsync wasn't that flash. But that's just my experience.
