Well SUPERNOOB would fit. some ?s about linux
Ok.
Well windows has crashed for the last time with me. Im sick of it....SOOOOO
I tried to get OS X working on my PC but after many atempts I have given up. SO that leads me to linux. Right now I have ubuntu installed and it is working ok for me right now. I had to get a new wireless adapter because I could not get my airlink101 150n to work so I went and bought a D-link. It is a G which is slowing me down, but atleast I got internet.
What I am looking for is a very stable version of linux, that will fullfill my needs. I like to download music, email, surf the web, and I really like watch movies/tv shows that play from the browser. That is all I really do now that I am in school. I mean all the ubuntu add on things are pretty cool, but it is randomly laggy, and not very consistant. I have to restart my computer alot.
What distro do you suggest? I would like one were I am able to use my airlink101 150n usb adapter (AWLL6070) and that will do all the things I need. The extra stuff is cool to though. I would love to be able to keep ubuntu but i hate this stupid problem with watching movies streaming online. It is like my favorite thing to do, and the videos either freeze, load WAY to slow, or when they actually play the frame rate is all choppy. I have 1gb ram, and a 8500GT 512mb graphics card, and I never had this problem with windows, so if there is a way to fix that, then i would jump for joy, also it would be nice to be able to get my airlink101 150n usb adapter to work.
Any advice would rock. Also, is there a way to install a distro along side ubuntu? that way if something fails i can go back to a distro with atleast internet access? I threw my windows install disk away haha

Can you access the internet through ethernet cable? If you can, connect to the internet through ethernet, while the airlink101 150n is plugged in and go to System->Administration->Hardware Drivers. For versions before 8.04 it is called Restricted Drivers. If there is a proprietary driver available it will download it and install it for you.

You could try LinuxMint, which is the child of Ubuntu. It has more hardware and multi-media straight after install and I think looks better.
It has a live CD so you can try it out without installing. If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)
My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.
