stange update problem
Ok, this just happend again. I have been using ubuntu 7.10 for a few weeks now, everything is fine as long as I DO NOT UPDATE anything, if I click the " updates available" balloon, it says " loading 368 update packages, when it says update complete, reboot computer; I get the regualr ubuntu 7.10 login screen. I type my user name; it asks for password: i type mypassword and BOOM whole screen goes blue, no borders, no task bar. just a tina sundial icon, when i click that, it shows the ( XBUNTU) mouse ican and says about xfce. I don't understand this at all, I've done clean installs 7 times. I just now loaded 8.4 and see the updates available icon, but i dont want to go through this again, I was hoping 8.4 would be current. I only tried the updates because it said i needed it for my printer to work. any suggestions of what is happening ? thanks

Which Graphics Card do you have?
Post output here.Code:sudo lspci | grep -i vga grep -i driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
