All Hail The Penguin! Vista Is Dead!

People some applause and cheers please! I'm proud to say that I am now (after 8 years of being professional slave to Winblows) a proud Linux user. I have successfully turned what used to be a phobia into a raging hunger for Linux. In case any of you are wondering what exactly would make a die hard windows uber geek suddenly just up and throw the bird at MS? One word...Viru$ta!

I swear to god in my nearly ten years as a computer tech (only 8 professionally) I have never EVER encountered anything that made me so pissed off so fast and so frequently. I literally was chain cursing at my monitor every day at least two to three times.

Finally, I snapped and I couldnt take it anymore. I DL a Hardy Heron ISO and dropped in a cd and started it up....an hour later I was in heaven. I can't believe I didnt do this sooner.

So, in closing...ALL HAIL THE PENGUIN!

    Welcome aboard,

I remember to have felt a similar enjoyment when I entered GNU/Linux but it is nothing compared with the feeling when you have customized your system to your individual tastes.

    Enjoy your stay.

Hey man, welcome home, is pretty good seeing people switching to Linux. I have done it also and it feels great watching your computer smoothly running

me three...after a few minor hiccups I have hardy running rock solid, I dove in and just deleted xp completey, instead of dual booting, on this machine. when i bought my notebook 8 months ago, running vista, I thought i had a lemon, with dual core processor and 2 gigs of ram it takes maybe a minute to boot ( that's 1994ish speeds ) then i went on line and saw all the complaints about vista lol, and realize there was nothing wrong with my machine.
