    does anything ever mount?

My DVD drive sometimes doesn't mount, especially (I mean, ESPECIALLY!!!!) in Fedora 9. I mean, there is absolutely NO indication of where the DVD drive (DVD burner) is mounted as.

This is really frustrating me. I can mount my external drive but sometimes my DVD Burner doesn't mount when a DVD is not inside or the DVD has been there a while and I reboot into another distro.

I wanted to play a file on the DVD or just access it.

    What the output of this
    Code:
    su -
    mount /dev/dvd
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I rebooted and then did the command:

mount: /dev/sr0 already mounted or /media/****this name is the DVD label**** busy
mount: according to mtab, /dev/sr0 is already mounted on /media/****DVD label****

****I assume that whatever the DVD label is would be mounted in /media

So, what does this mean then?

I noted /dev/sr0 before and I couldn't find it listed (in any directory).

I will assume that it was not mounted before - would that be correct or is there another explanation?

Isn't there another way to access my DVD burner or mount it other than a reboot or opening the DVD burner tray?
