Question about x/xorg versions, hardware works in older distros, not new ones, why?

    Hi,
I use two old video cards, one old agp ati, old pci nvidia...I can get dual screens to work in just about all distros. I can get xinerama in debian etch, knoppix 5.1.1, sabayon, pclinux, however, in ubuntu, debian testing, knoppix 5.3.1 when i enable xinerama, x crashes. why is this?! Thanks!!

That's a pretty good question, I would suggest that you browse through your /var/log directory searching for errors. Pay extra attention to /var/log/Xorg.0.log
    So a simple command like
    cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log |more
