dual booting: which linux distro works best with vista
i have a dell xps m1530 laptop that has vista home premium installed on it. im going to be majoring in computer science and thought it might be nice to dual boot linux and vista on my laptop
Now i was wondering is there a particular distro that works better with vista?
i have used both ubuntu and mepis in the past on a different laptop and i must say that mepis was much easier to use/install
ive googled how to dual boot linux and vista and which linux version works best with windows, but most of it is people talking about how much better ubuntu is than vista.
I appretiate the help and advice anyone gives me

If you choose to dualboot whatever linux distro you pick, wont affect your windows installation. What you mean
is there a particular distro that works better with vista?

Welcome to the forums!
They should all work about the same with Vista on the same box.
Probably any of the top 20 or so at DistroWatch.com should work well enough.
Have fun with Linux.oz

im defragmenting my HDD now and im going to try ubuntu 8.04, since thats the one the guide uses i figure it would be best to follow it. a friend said windows wouldnt be able to see the linux partition like linux can see the windows drive...but he said there was a program that would let you, does any one know what program he is talking about?
my initial googleing didnt come up with anything, but i will keep looking
wish me luck...i may be able to install it next week, this damn defrag is taking forever
