If you want to Copy a MBR you should dd the first x Bytes (I thought 128Bytes) of the HD..

    Hope that helped you

Windows OS install after Linux doesn't work in a few machines. Best way is, install Windows OS first. If you dont want to install from scratch, create new partition for Windows OS using PartedMagic LiveCD. Install Windows OS, re-install GRUB and add an entry of Windows OS in Boot Loader. There is no need to save MBR because its really easy to re-install GRUB after installing any other OS.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    Amen.

You can alternatively download a program called GParted or just "Parted" and use that for the partitioning, which is exactly the same application you'll find on the LiveCD, however the "Parted" version is a non-gui terminal version.

Send me a PM if you wish and we can exchange GTalk acc. and I can help you with it.
