    Dedicated Firewall

Hi I would like to set up a hardware firewall using linux on my old PC and then connect my PC running xp to it,, a learning excersize and a security upgrade!
Please can anyone reccomend the quickest easiest to install distro to do this and possibly point me to any tutorials for doing this kind of thing specifically.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the forums!

Here's a HowTo for setting up a firewall on an older machine:

You can also check out IPCop, a distribution specifically designed for firewalling purposes:

Lots of other distributions and information about them can be found at DistroWatch.com:

Personally I wouldn't use Ubuntu because there are other distros that do a better job. I would go with ipcop, engarde, endian or if you want to try a BSD OS, try monowall.
