Need help for Linux9 file system.

    I have two questions

I need a little help regarding to Red Hat Linux9 . Just like in windows in the system try we can see the LAN icon (Tow tiney monitors) which show that the data is moving.
Is there any option in Linux 9 or Red Hat Linix Enterprtise 4 AS which may show such thing?

2-Under / there are many directories like

    /boot
    /bin
    /sbin
    /etc
    /usr
    /var
    /drv
etc etc i can see in /usr

    /usr/bin/
    /usr/include/
    /usr/sbin/
    /usr/local

these folders are already under the root tree so what is the purpose of same folders repeatring under "/usr" dir.

    thanks

I cold try and waffle on about the Linux file system, but it has been done so much better here

There is a lot to read, but it is worthwhile
