Question Creating a Mobile Internet Laptop

Hi - after 20+ years as a Microsoft girl I am looking to use an old laptop as on "on the road" machine. I only need to be able to access the internet to show customers various websites and I have an old Toshiba Satellite laptop (circa 2000) that could fit the job size/weight wise. From the forum I am thinking of installing OpenSuse on this, and probably using Firefox as the browser as that is what I am used to.

But this laptop has no wireless connection (not so popular pre-millenium!!) so I need to purchase a PCI or USB wireless card and am looking for a recommendation on what to buy that is
    a) guaranteed to work with this combo
    b) easy to setup straight out the box
I should also mention that I am currently based in Belize and so many older models are still available here!!!

I'd appreciate any advice on what to buy or if you think I am wasting my time on this quest!
    Thanks - Marie

What you're looking for is definitely possible. The difficulty here will be, I suspect, getting a PCI card that works smoothly.

What I suggest doing is finding a PCI card that you like and that works with your hardware, and then searching online to see if people have used it with Suse or Linux in general before. You can see what difficulties they had or what they had to do to get it to work.

    Good luck!
