Desktop Background Changer in System >> Preferences doesn't work
Hi, I've just noticed that when I try to install a desktop background by going to System >> Preferences >> Desktop Background, it says "Starting Desktop Background" and nothing happens. Then it disappears without a trace...
Any ideas on how to install desktop wallpapers manually?

Download the background image of your choice to your desktop.
Go to System / Preferences / Appearance / Background / Add...
...then navigate to the background image to add it.
If it doesn't work, let us know.oz

There is no "Appearance" in "System" >> "Preferences"
I believe that is only for Gutsy Gibbon
I'm running Feisty Fawn

Ok, thanks for the replying back.
The same overall approach to a fix this should apply, but I'm running a later version of Gnome, so can't test it to see what you are seeing.
Maybe someone running the version you have will post.oz
