yum only in fedora/redhat?
I am very interested to install softwares using yum in fedora. But i tried to do the same in ubuntu an not worked. Is yum spcial of fedora? Can we use any other technique instead of yum?

Hi, Tom!
yum is, indeed, specific to Fedora and Red Hat OS's. But Ubuntu has apt-get, which is very similar. Example would beCode:sudo apt-get <package_name>

SuSE has yast, Gentoo has (I think)emerge. I'm not too sure about Mandriva.
