avi update for linux
Hi. I ma new to linux, and what i have seen I like. But I would like to play AVI files, and MPlayer wont. I have downloaded an AVI player, but how do you install it?! Any help would be great, thanks

Which distribution are you using? Linux uses a different approach compared to windows for program installation. Instead of downloading a setup file from the internet (which may contain viruses, spyware,trojan,etc) you use the "Package Manager", which downloads the file from a safe location and installs it for you.
So, tells as your distro in order to give you detailed instructions about your package manager.

I think it is Lipnus Linux v1.0.7 e. Does that make sense? if not, where would I find the info? thanks

I've never tried Linpus but if that's what you are running and you haven't done so already, you might check their website for documentation and any FAQs that would give some details on adding software and additional features.
