can't reinstall original software
Hi I just got my Aspire One a few weeks ago. I did the software update with Live Update successfully. The only other update I tried to do was the Firefox update through terminal with wget as posted on one of the forums. (I don't know if I did it correctly since Linux is completely foreign to me, but when I restarted, Firefox seemed to be updated.) It worked fine for a couple of days but then on startup one day I got the Acer logo and the blue Acer Aspire One page and then a black screen with a cursor on it.
I attached an external optical USB to try to reinstall my original software and now I keep getting an error during the recovery. It always seems to give me an error at around 2 minutes into the recovery. At other times I try, I get a blue screen with:
"bunzip2 error, maybe memory not enough?
I'll open a shell for you.
sh-2.05b#"
after that it freezes.
Can I recover my system software myself or should I bring my acer in for servicing?
Thanks for any help.

The fact that it happened out of the blue, and that bunzip is complaining that there's not enough memory, seems to suggest that you have a RAM problem. If your Acer's still within its service life, it would probably be best to take it back to them to be checked out.
Sorry for your problems, but welcome to the forums
Hope to see you back here with your new Acer!
