Deleting a parttion and dual booting

    Hello crew,

My wife has this computer dual booting (opensuse 11 and xp), but she wants to get rid of suse and install linux mint instead. Is there a SAFE way to do this? I am going to backup (image) her xp partition just to be safe, but i don't want to wipe out the xp partition.

You dont need to remove your SuSE install, just install Mint over the top. When your new Operating System is installing, you can select the drive layout you want, you'll be able to re-format any partitions you want to use, so you just need to be careful that you're not deleting any NTFS or FAT32 partitions when you do that.

Mint will install it's own bootloader, so it'll overwrite the bootloader that SuSE installed.
