    Welcome to the forums!

Those are not really kernel versions. Well, they might be, I guess you mean you've found different kernels with different descriptions during an install? Then these are just tuned to support non standard functionality.

Xen is a form of virtualization. And Pae allows for more physical memory on 32-bit systems. Both need support at kernel level, and what you seem to have is kernels with that support compiled in. My guess is that if you don't know you need it, that you probably don't (need it).

Someone might provide more detail (or even proof me wrong) if you give the name of the distro.

    I'm using opensuse 11 on my pc (intel 3.0 HT,2gb ram,400GB hdd,etc)
what's the meaning of "Xen is a form of virtualization"?
now i know about pae and when i have 2gb ram I don't need it.
    (ram > 8gb)

Yeah, the kernel is very complicated. Luckily other people seem to understand it
