    my system has dual booting
    first vista was loaded then fedora 8
    defaut os is fedra
    i want to make vista as default os
    please help in this regard

    Hello,

    under Fedora, open a console and type "cat /boot/grub/menu.lst"

    Change the number in the "default" line.
    Or post the output here, if you need further help.

    Open the file /boot/grub/menu.lst as root.
    You are saying only two os are there in your computer. So Fedora would be listed first and it would be having number 0 and Vista will be having 1. If that's the case, then change the number in default to 1. Else replace it with the number shown in Vista's entry in grub.

    You can also just change the order in which they appear in the menu.lst file, but the edit of the default line as suggested by the others is the better approach, in my opinion.

    ^^Problem solved. So mark the thread as SOLVED using Thread Tools menu.
