    OSS w/ Express Sound Card

    Hi All,
I recently found out that my Creative X-Fi finally got some Linux support (I know Creative was blocking the path). Unfortunately it's not with ALSA, it's with OSS. I followed these instructions:

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/OpenSound

Everything seems to have worked and I have sound out of my laptop, again, unfortunately no luck for my X-Fi Express Card. I have posted before and people said that Express is just a type of PCI yet it's not being detected by OSS. I would assume that all X-Fi drivers are very very similar, so...any ideas how I can get it to see my Express card?

I just checked lspci and it actually spit out something:

0e:00.0 Audio device: Creative Labs [SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio] CA0110-IBG

That's new, wasn't there with ALSA...yet I don't get any sound from it (when it's plugged in I just keep getting sound out of my notebook speakers).

    Thanks!

So I just got rid of OSS because...it was too difficult to set everything up and then I redid lspci

0d:00.0 PCI bridge: Creative Labs Unknown device 7006
0e:00.0 Audio device: Creative Labs [SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio] CA0110-IBG

So it looks like even with ALSA it sees the express card, I sent creative a not so friendly message saying I may sell this card and buy another brand because I'm tired of waiting, anyone have any suggestions for an express card that has 7.1 capability (I have a Creative 5.1 system) Thanks all

Last post from me until I get a response. I am listing my creative sound card on ebay and going to buy a USB sound card instead. I want 7.1 support (5.1 if someone has a suggestion is fine). Express card would work also if someone has an easy one that functions well in Linux. Thanks all
