    Device IDs shifting

    Hi,

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 with the latest patches loaded. Have an Asus A8N-SLI motherboard with 8 onboard SATA ports. In addition I have a Highpoint PCI sata controller with another 4 SATA ports. I have 11 SATA devices hooked up to the various ports, and I'm seeing some stangeness with my device IDs. The drives were all setup with software RAID and things work fine...until I reboot. When the system comes back up, the device IDs have changed around and the RAID devices are broken. I can rebuild them each time...but that's not really practical.

    Why are my IDs changing?

    thanks for the help.
