How do I know which distro I have?
Hi everyone.
Extreme newbie here. I've just bought an Acer Aspire One notebook and the O/S is Linpus Linux Lite v1.0.7.E.
This might be a really dumb question, but how do I know what distro I have or do I need to download one? I have looked that the distro list and don't recognise any of those names. Is there somewhere on my system that will tell me?
Hope you can help.
Many thanks.

Thanks for replying so quickly. This may be a really silly question, but where/how would I find that info?
Thanks.

Open terminal/konsole and here type the code given by daark.child
You will see info about your installed distro.

You can find some more information on your distro (assuming it is Linpus) at distrowatch.com:

Isn't that the Linux distro? Hey, you usually know what distro you have because you install it! Duh!O/S is Linpus Linux Lite v1.0.7.E.
Edit: the Penguin made me say it!
- 11-15-2008 #7No need to be rude about it! When you live in a world where you can pay over a grand or two for a PC with Vista or 250 - 400 USD with Linux pre-installed, there will be a few that have questions of what is installed!Hey, you usually know what distro you have because you install it!
