I suggest you go to the linmodem site and download the ScanModem tool they describe. I assume you have some kind of internet access or you wouldn't have been able to post here. Perhaps you are using a library computer or one belonging to a friend. Well, download ScanModem, put it on a disk and install it on your computer. It will collect information on your modem and whether it is compatible with Linux.

Then you will be in a better position to get help. I got a lot of help from the linmodems people when I was trying to use my lucent modem but I should warn you that not all modem manufacturers produce a Linux driver for their devices.

Excellent site, hazel! I was actually looking for a site a couple of days ago regarding Winmodems and Linux!

    Thanks!

check the Linux hardware compatibility list to see if there is a Linux driver for your modem.

otherwise, you can try a Linux modem...cost about $20. You are using dial up, right? Hey, I need some help too! How can I get free cable tv with my Linux?
