Getting 'program exception' in FireFox
Hi
I am a long time Mac user, but currently using an Eee pc running Xandros.
I have been using FireFox 2.0.0.7 without any problems, until this week. Suddenly, having made no changes or installed any new software, I find when I visit some favourite sites that FF crashes, then shows a screen saying:
program exception.
I have Googled, searched here, and elsewhere, without results. Apart from deleting all cookies and the browsing history and emptying the cache, not knowing much about Linux I have hesitated to do much else, so
any help in fixing this problem will be appreciated.

If this is a consistent problem with certain sites do the following:
open up a terminal and run "firefox"
Then visit that site, when it crashes stuff should come up in the terminal (the error and a few more details), post that here.
If it's not consistent then do the same thing and just keep visiting different sites until it crashes.
You might also want to uninstall firefox 2 and install the newest version (3.0.3 I believe). That might fix the problemBodhi 1.3 & Bodhi 1.4 using E17
Dell Studio 17, Intel Graphics card, 4 gigs of RAM, E17

Thank you. I did as you suggested and immediately on FireFox crashing again I got this message in Terminal:
/home/user> firefox
/opt/firefox/run-mozilla.sh: line 131: 4123 Segmentation fault "$prog" ${1+"$@"}
/home/user>
I hope it means more to you than it does to me.

Try renaming your ~/.mozilla file to ~/.mozilla.bak, then restart Firefox. It's possibly just a config file not playing nice.

Update
Working through terminal I accessed 'Check for updates' in FireFox and followed the prompts. I now have been updated to 2.0.0.17 [from 2.0.0.7.] I used a FF download site to then get v3, but can find no trace of the download, but the v2.0.0.17 is working well, no crashes so far, so I am working again.
Thank you

Jayd512: our posts must have crossed. Thanks for your suggestion, as you will see from my update - I have updated FF and the crashes are no longer a problem.

Glad you got it going! As far as FF3 is concerned, it might be located in your package manager as a download. I think its Xandros Networks? I've never used Xandros, but the package manager for any distro is usually the safest and easiest way to go for new apps.
See you around!
