Help with Live CD and dd-rescue
Hi.... first of all I think Linux is a great thing, overall, so I support all you guys helping out here. As soon as you get support for all the graphics and gaming software, I will definitely make the switch. Sick of MS and Apple, all of them.
Now, to business. I'm I crazy or are there 7397 different versions Live CD's out there? Which one do I pick?
First, why do I need one... I've run my dumb butthole down with a crashed a 3 drive RAID 5 system running XP Pro, one drive failed, then before i got it back from Samsung to rebuild the array, a second drive failed, so its done. So now I have on healthy data drive, and one data drive with a couple of bad sectors (I did a dos scan with a samsung utility). I want to try to mirror out the bad drive's data and see if I can copy that to my healthy drive and rebuild the RAID, in case it is the hardware that is preventing the rebuild, using dd_rescue, which I may need help using since i am not a programmer.
So now, again, which Live CD do i choose!

Welcome to the forums!
In addition to dd_rescue, you might want to take a look at ddrescue:
GNU ddrescue - Summary [Savannah]
You can find ddrescue on the PartedMagic LiveCD.
I think it also comes on the Farmer's Boot CD.
Good luck with your efforts.oz
