Grub CD, a way to autoboot Live USB on any computer
As the title says, I was wondering if there is a way to burn a grub iso to a cd, which in turn will automatically boot whatever linux distro present in the usb drive. I am asking this question because all of my computers steadfastly refuse to boot live usb, and I have no diskettes anymore.
Does anyone have a Grub ISO which I can burn? Would there be a problem with this method? (like menu.lst for different computers)

You might give SuperGrub a try
Super Grub Disk Webpage
I think it has a USB version, but you must make sure that your machine supports booting from USB devices, usually found in the BIOS, or it just won't work. Do let us know how it goes.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

Yes all my computers "support" booting from usb, since its listed in each of their BIOSs as a something to check for before proceeding to the main harddisk.
However, despite the presence of the thumb drive in my usb port, It still boots to windows.
How would super grub help me? The wiki on the site is incoherent.

Have you tried actually listing the USB device as the first boot item in the BIOS? I'm pretty sure you must enable it before it will work.

You might want to try this or puppy linux, if these don't work then you can also take a look here.I have an old desktop which I think has some USB options but refuses to boot from a pen drive ... I know the pen drive is good because my laptop will boot from it.
Supergrub may help you boot a distro on a USB drive but BIOS needs to support this ... but I'm not sure it will help you if all you have is an iso on the USB pen drive.

MikeTBob: Yes, I changed boot order so that usb is checked first
Jonathan: The linux distro has nothing to do with this boot issue, since I have already tried this with other distros with the same results. If you read my OP you can see that I said I wanted to burn the grub iso to a cd, so that when the computer boots that cd, it will then boot up the flash drive linux.

I think that you can do that. I had a firewire drive that I was able to boot from, after spending a lot of time trying to get it to work. My BIOS did not support booting from firewire. Try searching the net with google! I found something that helped me get the firewire to work.
I think it might?or it just won't work
