Question about improving mouse behaviour in Linux...

I'm presently using Damn Small Linux's default xwindows system and I'm notthat comfortable with the mouse reaction time/movement sensitivity..

I've used the mouse control panel to accelerate it but my question is this :-

------------> Is mouse behaviour under all Linux desktops the same or are any of them like the "smoothness" of MS Windows? I'm not sure if changing desktop is merely a change in look or whether it will also change mouse behaviour?

what is your mouse behaviour like under your Linux? cos i find it a bit too jerky and slow under Linux compared to Windows (even after I play around with the DSLinux control panel).

On this laptop I'm dual-booting Ubuntu and Vista, and I prefer the mouse movement in Ubuntu. It's much smoother and "snappier" than in Vista.

How is your mouse behaviour in other linux's?
