    Sorry, I'm using KDE 3.5.9, but maybe this will help. On the menu bar, click "Settings ->Tab Bar ->Top". Then click "Settings ->Save as Default" to make this happen automatically on startup.

    Sorry to sound preachy, but I don't recommend that "newbies" should run "bleeding edge" or new major release versions of software. Even "4.0" versions of software can still be buggy or missing features, wait for a higher revision number like "4.0.12" or even something like "4.1.8".

    Anyway, hope the first paragraph might have helped. And if you aren't worried about a bug or two, have fun with the cutting edge!
