    Linux ---fist steps!!!

Currently I'm using Ubuntu but I will like to start with other distro that let me start form zero...ex...start with something like MS-DOS and then start installing all other things that I need.

Any recomendation???, any How-To?? -- I will like something as simple as possible and not start with a distro that already have too many things.

    Welcome to the forums!

Check the link in my signature for lots of good information on getting started with Linux. There are also a couple of quizzes there that will help you to pick another distro.

Arch, Crux, Debian, and Gentoo all fit the description you gave above. In each case, you can install the base system only, then you add only want you want, or need.

Hope it all goes well for you.

You could try the netinstall option of Debian. This involves downloading a very small ISO image and burning it to disc; the disc then installs a skeleton Debian system and you add whatever else you need from the Internet. I used it to install a text-only system with all the basic utilities but minus the desktop (because I knew the desktop was Gnome and I didn't want that). Then I created a minimal desktop of my own by installing xorg, fluxbox, x-fonts and a few basic apps. It was great fun and I love the result.
