    iMac G3 and LiveCD

    Hello,

I have recently acquired a 600 MHz iMac G3, and would like to run a linux LiveCD on it. I understand that with some distributions there is a way to save the settings for the LiveCD onto a usb drive. However, I've been unable to find out which distributions have a PPC LiveCD that can do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Kirjava

    Ubuntu may do more.

Ubuntu 8.04.1 live-cd can be installed on an USB flash stick and will preserve changes and work files. There is a version for PPC. I have an 8.10 version on a 2GB flash. There is the live-cd and about 1.2GB of file space. For 8.10 the installation looks like this. Ubuntu 8.10 Install using the built in USB Creator | USB Pen Drive Linux

That actually sounds like a really good option, thanks! The hard drive on my iMac is only 40GB so I don't want to partition it, and even if I did I would be afraid of wiping everything out in the process.
