Which Flavour/Version of Linux to Use??
I recently obtained an old system.
Pentium 3
500 MHz
32mb ram
6 gb HDD
It's shameful - I know. I want to install Linux but I am unsure of what version of what flavour I should use. I know that Linux has different flavours but I am struggling to find where I can find out what version of what flavour will run with my old P.O.S. secondary system... Any advice or links are greatly appreciated.

I installed Damn Small Linux Current on a Compaq 1540 DM, Pentium 144hz, 64 mb ram, 2 gig Hardrive and ended up with internet using a Xircom CEM-100 PCMCIA Cardbus. I don't know if your 32 MB ram will be sufficient for Damn Small but if you are interested I made a tutorial on How I did it here

DSL has been demonstrated browsing the web with Dillo, running simple games and playing music on systems with a 486 processor and 16 MB of RAM.Jay

RAM is a much bigger problem than CPU. If you can add a little RAM, you will probably see a dramatic rise in performance for a relatively minor amount of money.
I've got an old 450Mhz machine that also came with 32MB RAM, but I added a little so it now has 160MB. It gives quite good performance as long as I don't let it do the heavy lifting stuff like compiling or run heavy apps like Openoffice.org.
Damn Small Linux will work on it, as will VectorLinux (light), Zenwalk and others. Can't tell an OS by it's GUI
