I need a recommendation for a distro that can work with my computer.
System Specifications...

-Mepis (Worked with modem but no sound)
-MephisLite (Worked with modem but no sound)
-Linspire (Could not install)
-Xandros 4.0 Home Edition Premium (Worked with modem but no sound)
-Slackware (Could not get it to boot after installation)
-PC-BSD (Did not work with modem)
-DesktopBSD (Did not work with modem)
-DeLi Linux (Difficult to install and failed to boot)
-Vector Linux (Failed to install boot loader and modem is not supported)
-Vine Linux (Modem didn't work)
-Fedora Core 3 (Frequent problems installing packages)

I would suggest that you install whatever you like from the above list and then try to fix what doesn't work (Sound). If the sound works on one distro but not another, you probably just need to get the correct sound modules loaded.
I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

I recently installed Ubuntu Server on a similar computer because it comes on one CD (so does Ubuntu Desktop) and my HD is only 10GB also. Since there is no GUI there may be problems that you may run into that I do not have to deal with but the NIC works fine with my router. Maybe you mean one of the dialup modems though :-/
