Install Linux on an eMac with no CD drive?

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to install some sort of linux distro on an emac (preferably dual boot linux/ OS X)? This would be easy, but the CD drive on this particular eMac is ridiculously broken, so I can't install from a CD. Can it be done from a flash drive instead? how?

    Thanks in advance

You should be able to download various linux distro's in specific USB formats. Then you would copy the files to the USB and change the MBR of the USB so it becomes bootable. Then restart your computer, enter BIOS and select "Boot from USB" or something along those lines. Your BIOS, depending on its age might not support booting from USB. Hope it does.

Google should get you quite specific tutorials:

Be aware that Macs require a PPC version of Linux because its a Mac. I found 1 Link for Kubuntu 8.10 and Pendrive and Mac.
