Looking for a new distro.
Hi i am looking for a new operator for a pc and because ther is so many i dont know where to start.
The computer i want to put it on is older, it has about a 1 gig processer a 20 gig hard drive and about 32 mb of ram. I have had a coupple different linux running on it, i had puppy linux and right now i have slax...anyway i am looking for a system that can meet these needs:
Is compatable with itunes or amarok
can have limewire easily installed on it
has basic uses ( browser, writing pads...)
does not take up too much memory.
and will recognize an i pod touch and nano

Check the link in my signature for a couple of quizzes that might help you to pick another distro, or two. It's generally better to spend some time experimenting with different distributions to see what works best for you and your hardware, rather than have someone tell you what's the best for you.

ok thanks of the advice, how can i figure out if it can use amarok and limewire? I took that quiz and one of the suggestions was Kubuntu, that will work with the amarok... i think that i will try that

The majority of distributions will let you install software that isn't already installed by default. Amarok is a kde-oriented application, and Kubuntu uses KDE, so that might very well be a good place to start your search.

just to doubble check, amarok lets you put songs on the ipod right?

32mb of ram might cause you one or three problems with the larger distros. They seem to need at least 256mb. Other than that your hardware should cope. Is there any possibility of adding more ram?

be careful if you plan on using Amarok to sync your ipod. Amarok doent work with all types of ipods. Check out this for compatible types.
