    Where'd my sound go?

    Hey everybody! I just got a Dell Mini 9 for xmas and just last night my sound went out on me...I know pretty much nothing about Linux so I have no idea where to even start.

    Running Ubuntu (Mini I think)
    Messed with the volume, it's un-muted and cranked all the way up
    I noticed it using Pidgin and then later in Firefox when I was trying to play the radio over it

    Thanks for any help I really appreciate it!

    Go to Applications->Accessories->Terminal
    Type:
    Code:
    alsamixer
    If the 2 left channels are down, raise them all way up. Press ctrl+c to exit.

    Wow that was easy! Thank you very much for the help! What could I have done to cause the speaker level to go ALLLLL the way down?

    You probably just played a bit around with your sound or something, but that's not really important, the point is that you now know how to correct this.
