    dolphin `black screen` - no desktop!

    hi,
    i`ll explain the problem a bit better now...on the usb files icon on the places tab @ the bottom of the desktop - i right clicked it, believing it to be my phone & asked it to open with dolphin (not realising what dolphin was).......following this, i now have a black screen with the mouse cursor & this internet window available.
    normally i would just re-boot but am worried that of course i`ll end up losing this as well & will really buggered!

    I'm having a hard time understanding the problem that you're having. Can you tell us what distro you're using? Also, what desktop are you using (KDE, Gnome, etc.)?

    Also, can you please be a little clearer about what actually happened?
