i686 file loads but screen is blinking during loading. I thought this could be
because of file.

can you supply a link to the repo that you are downloading from?
an i686 distro probably won't run properly on a i586 machine.oz

check the ubuntu downloads page:

one of the x86 ISO files there should work for you. you might have even better luck with xubuntu.oz

you can get the i386 download for Fedora that should work from here:
ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub...dora/i386/iso/
...or the opensuse download for i586 machines from here:

When I click the link it directs to the following i586 iso file:If you click x86 32bit
the iso file is for i686...

You can also see the i586 files by looking directly into the folder where they reside:
