installing wine 1.1.13

hi,

im trying to install IEs4linux, so i can run windows IE inside firefox 3.0.5. i can get windows IE to run when wine 1.1.12 is installed, but IE is very unstable and locks up the computer with every point and click, no good. the IEs4linux program says you must use wine 1.1.13 in order to run IE sucessfully. the problem is, when i go to install wine 1.1.13 via terminal, it starts loading 1.1.12 instead! what do i do to correct this???.
another thing. when i down load an application, program, how do i get it to install on linux. sometimes i down load something, and it just runs, other times, it just sits there. i downloaded clamav, and now it is downloaded, how dod i get it installed????...bob

Are you running ubuntu?
