Help me choose the right OS for PS3...

I was preparing to install Yellow Dog Linux on my new PS3 until I realised that I may encounter a brick wall if I then try to use it on my other TV (since it seems you can't change the screen resolution without re-installing it). So, does anyone know of a Linux OS that will work on a PS3 and also do the following...

    - Be able to change easily between both a PAL SCART (Standard AV cable) and a HDMI cable and without having to re-install when switching between the two TVs.

    - Switch screen resolution sizes easily and without having to re-install.

I won't be using Linux on the PS3 for computing (I use a PC and laptop for all that) but rather for its gaming facilities. So, I also want it to run game emulators (Nintendo/Sega consoles etc.) that work at the right speed etc. It's also important that the games can be used using the wireless PS3 joypad (I have a USB adaptor that for using 2x PS2 joypads that works on PS3 and PS1 games too if this makes things any easier).

    I'm currently armed with:

    - A wireless keyboard/mouse (it's like a laptop without a screen that works through the PS3 USB) that will hopefully be compatible with whichever OS I go with

    - Lots of blank DVDs ready to burn the ISO

    - A USB pen drive for backing up my game saves before the HDD reformating and OS installing business begins.

If you know I will need anything else here, please tell me. Any help in getting the right Linux OS to suit all this will be much appreciated.

I don't own a PS3 and won't be able to tell you what distro will fit your needs. All I can do is show you your alternatives to Yellow Dog Linux. If any of your DVD's are DVDRW you can burn a distro, try it out. If it doesn't fit your needs, you can burn the next downloaded distro over the DVDRW and try again. Maybe somebody else with your kind of steup will jump in and tell you what worked for them. Good Luck.
