Knoppix USB Boot and a Backtrack3 issue

OK, Im not ENTIRELY new to Linux, I had an eeepc for a couple months before my parents oh so rudely took it away, so I guess I can say im FAMILIAR with it.

Anyways, now that thats out of the way, I recently installed Knoppix to my 1gb USB drive, so i can boot to it when the account control on vista gets annoying and whatnot. In the meantime, i have a couple questions...

-How do i get my laptop connected to the internet through knoppix? it works fine in vista, but knoppix is a mess.
-there seems to be a bunch of nothing installed on my knoppix distro. How do i get rid of this nothingness?
-Most importantly, I have a file im trying to unrar through knoppix, but i seem to be missing the program itself. How do i install said program to knoppix so i can unrar the file?
-How do i get settings to save as well? my mouse settings are WAY to sensitive to be comfortable...

thats all i have at the moment for knoppix
i got the distro here by the way

USB Knoppix 5.1.1 install | USB Pen Drive Linux

Now for my second issue. I installed Backtrack 3 to a cd so i can boot from it (the ISO image). the only problem ive encountered so far is that when i try and boot to it, everything works fine and dandy until, i guess it tries to start actuakly making sense and the mouse pops up. From here it flashes in and out about every 5 seconds and thats it.
any reason why this is? id very much rather like to fix this and get it working...

    Hi and Welcome !

I have never used Knoppix USB and I can't help you here. I would suggest you to check SLAX too. I am using Slax Usb for years and haven't faced a single problem yet.

Its a Graphics Card problem. Backtrack is not configuring your Graphics Card properly. Which Graphics Card do you have?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

ok, i posted my wireless question in the wireless connection forum, so my my most primary question is as to how i can manually install a program to unrar a file in knoppix? seeing as i dont have a wireless connection, i cant use the package manager.
