    Password Setup Help!

    Hi

I've just bought an Acer Aspire One notebook and i'm having trouble setting up a password. It only shows a prompt to change an existing password, which I don't have as Linux was pre-installed. Does anyone know a way round this?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forums!

Check this article for resetting a supervisor password.

    Hope it helps.

Is case you were not referring to your BIOS password but your user or root password, you may find this article helpful.
You should not login as root though. You only need that password if you want to change something in your settings for which you need "administrator rights".
Being logged in as user gives you full access to every preinstalled program on your AA1.
