    Check out madwifi. They have support for some Atheros chipsets.

    Most of madwifi is now in the stock kernel, at least as of 2.6.28 ( think it got in 2.6.25)... the ath5k module is essentially madwifi. So there's pretty good support out of the box as long as ath5k is compiled in or built as a module.

    Works for my atheros card anyway.
