Problems with browsers on multiple distros
Hi, I have recently tried out different Linux distros - Ubuntu, OpenSuse and Fedora - and I seem to have the same problem with all of them. The issue is with certain websites which have AJAX loaded content - for example, Yahoo Mail, Facebook. I'm fairly new to Linux and don't know how to resolve this problem. It has also happened on, for example, travel and hotel booking sites where I have been trying to make a transaction and it has been hanging indefinitely. I have found the same problem with Firefox, Konqueror and Opera, so it is not browser specific. The error I sometimes receive in Firefox is "Network Timeout", while in Yahoo Mail I occasionally get an XML error returned.
Does anyone know what is going on here?

Have tried all distros you have mentioned. I have not had any problem with browsers (atleast firefox) in linux.
The only problem I am having with firefox is with Outlook Web Access. The layout is so neat in Windows with IE. The same is horrible in firefox. But that is with firefox not specific to linux and more so it is due to bad, incompatible design by M$.A candle looses nothing by lighting other candles. - Khalil Zibran.

AJAX seems to be very dependent on a steady network connection.
Is it possible that your network driver under Linux is of low quality or has been improperly configured?Debian GNU/Linux -- You know you want it.

I have no problem with these same sites when i am running XP on the same laptop and same wireless connection. The distros i've used have been the latest stable installs, and all within the past month. I've read that ipv6 being enabled can sometimes cause problems, although i don't know too much about this to be honest. Any thoughts greatly appreciated - in the meantime i'll look into the ipv6 issue
