Can't Get Any Distro To Run HELP!
I really want it fixed this time, I want away from Microsoft. The distros I have tried are.
Debian
Ubuntu
Kubuntu
Mint
Suse
Fedora
Mandriva
All have the same issue, and it doesn't matter if you run live CD or install, it won't get past the splash screen then just freezes, I have tried tapping keys but that doesn't do any good.
The laptop is a
Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo V6515
2.0ghz Celeron 575 processor
3GB Ram
160GB HDD
Nvidea GeForce 8200
Atheros Wireless Card
I can't figure out the issue,

Hi and Welcome !
Its a Graphics Card problem only. Installers are not configuring it correctly. Try to install in Text Mode. Its easy to fix Graphics Card problem after installation.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Devils Casper meant the Alternate Install CD, if I understood correctly.
Or any other text installed distro. Debian has the option for text install.

Here is the Ubuntu 8.10 alternative download link:

Just install it and then you'll have to manually do a few things to your xorg, shouldn't take too long.
What video card do you have? That might help trying to figure out what you need to doBodhi 1.3 & Bodhi 1.4 using E17

- 02-22-2009 #6I think Nvidea GeForce 8200 is the graphics card here. I think he needs to install a proprietary driver. Every time I have a box with a Nvidea card, I run into the problems with proprietary drivers. I always had the luck I still had some graphics so I can't be of much more help.he laptop is a

oops missed that he had already listed his system. Typically nvidia works out of the box at least to get the system up and then to get all the fancy stuff you need the drivers installed but, the alternative Ubuntu disc is a good start, after he can work on his xorg

I have just installed VectorLinux 6 Gold and it flawlessly installed my Nvidia card with the Nvidia drivers. Now to get wireless working. On this laptop that normally means ndiswrapper...
Damn Broadcom 4306 Rev 2 doesn't play nice with the native drivers
