    how to use qtpart??

I downloaded and saved qtpart to my computer, but when I tried to open qtpart it said it wasn't openable. How do I use qtpart? Or, how do I partition a piece of my hard drive for a new OS?

    Hi and Welcome !

I would suggest you to use PartedMagic LiveCD for Partitioning. Partition Manager is available in LiveCDs of most of Linux distros. Which Linux distro are you planing to install?

If you want to use qtpart only then execute it in Terminal/Konsole and post output here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

well, I currently have windows xp and I am trying to partition a piece of my hard drive for Solaris. I already have Xubuntu installed on the computer, and that worked out just fine. So I'm just looking for some free from-the-internet partition software (or for a way to do it from the command prompt).

you can also use gparted on the xubuntu live CD, if it's there. I know it's there on the Ubuntu live CD.
