OK. I have a copy of OpenSuse coming......

I want to put it on a computer that now has windows.

Do I load it on without regard to windows, or do I format the windows disk to start things off?

What version of windows do you have, xp, vista...??
Do you plan to keep windows?
Did you install windows yourself or was it pre-installed?
Have you previously installed an operating system?
If you plan to keep windows and Opensuse, you should defragment windows before doing anything. You will need to create partitions during the install and format.

Answers to the above questions would be helpful to anyone making suggestions so that we know what experience you have. Also might be useful to post some hardware specs for your computer.

    Sorry---I didn't include enough info:

    Windows Xp

Don't want anything on hard drive but OpenSuse

    Windows xp was pre-installed.

I have not installed an OS.

You back up any data you want to keep and then as part of the install select "Guided - use whole disk" or whatever it says option and it will do all the work for you.

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.
